Wanderlust Wednesday is a series where I revisit a past travel adventure and memory. This week, I’m looking back at Costa Rica.
I was on the cusp of a career transition when we went to Costa Rica in 2014, and our trip couldn’t have come at a better time.
Our first day at the resort, I was still in work-mode: thinking about emails and project I had left behind; wondering if everything would still be in order when I returned. Thankfully we didn’t have wifi in our room (you had to walk up a giant hill to the lobby for email access) so after a few hours of not being connected, I could really disconnect.
It was grand.
It was on day two, as we sat on the balcony, staring out at the ocean, looking up at the perfectly formed clouds, that I was actually able to relax for the first time in weeks. I was able to forget about emails, deadlines, and everything in between. It was the first time in ages that I felt serene.
It was exactly what I needed to make a very tough, but very right decision. And, every time I look at the above photo, which was snapped during that serene moment, I can’t help relive that feeling all over again.
