After 6+ years living in a 9-to-5 world, a young couple in their late-20s decided to press pause. He decided to go back to school, she decided to go on an adventure, and together they moved abroad.
This is her story.
Hi. My name is Kate and I’m a 30-year-old wanderluster, fashion fiend, and list-maker extraordinaire. After working 6+ years in not-for-profit communications in Canada, my partner and I decided to embark on an adventure and move to Europe.
We were both looking for a change from the nine-to-five, and everyone we talked to (from parents to colleagues to friends in our Monday night beginners curling league) told us that now was the time. So, we listened. He decided to go back to school to study Sustainable Development and I decided to take this once in a lifetime opportunity to pick up, live abroad and travel until my bank account could no longer support it!
For as long as I can remember I’ve been a wanderlust window shopper – I loved to look at pictures and dream of faraway places but, it wasn’t until 2012 when I went on my first overseas trip (sans parents) that I was really bitten by the travel bug. Since then I’ve written lists, researched and spent countless hours dreaming of vacations and adventures. Only a couple came to fruition, so this year I’m making up for it.
