My Travel Bucket List: Eindhoven

My Travel Bucket List: Eindhoven, Netherlands [petiteadventures.org]

This weekend, I’m off to Eindhoven, Netherlands for what is most likely the last city break of the summer. I can’t really believe that this is our last planned holiday for the season, but so is the life of two adults with jobs and deadlines, and without trust funds. Sigh.

But, let’s be honest, a little travel is better than no travel, and I must admit, I am very excited for this upcoming mini-break!

Eindhoven is a city in the province of North Brabant, located in the south of the Netherlands. While it is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, it is best known as a high-tech and cutting-edge design industry hub.

Now, it probably isn’t the first destination you’d think of visiting in the Netherlands, and to be honest, it wasn’t mine either, but it is home to friends of ours and when we were invited to come and visit, we jumped at the chance. I mean, who doesn’t love visiting and exploring another part of a beautiful and beloved country!

Petite Adventures Month in Review: June 2017

Petite Adventures Month in Review: June 2017 [petiteadventures.org]

As luck would have it, the day that I wrote and published my summer bucket list was the last nice day we had all week. Since then, the weather here in Leeds has taken a turn for the worse. A sharp, severe turn all the way back to October.

I tell ya reader friends, it has been unpleasantly cold. Like wearing sweatpants to bed cold.

I am not impressed. But, I shall not dwell.

Although our month didn’t include an exotic or exciting adventure, June was a pretty great month on the personal front.

After returning from our Croatia trip, we spent a bit of time resettling and relaxing after our vacation before jumping back into life whole hog.

As usual, work was hectic and all consuming, but let’s not dwell on that because well, everyone works and it’s not really the most fun thing to talk about. Instead, let’s focus on what I got up to on those off hours. Those few precious hours during the week where I wasn’t working, eating or sleeping.

A Day in Liverpool

Petite Adventures' Guide to Liverpool, United Kingdom [petiteadventures.org]

There are some destinations we dream about for years. We read about them; plan for future trips, many of which go untaken; we save for them; and, when the time finally comes, we feel as though we’ve accomplished some big life goal.

We’ve finally done it!

And then there are some destinations we visit simply because the price was just too good to pass up. This is how I ended up spending a day in Liverpool.

The price was right.

A Day in Marsden

A Day in Marsden, UK [petiteadventures.org]

Earlier this year, Dave and I were going through a bit of a phase. We were looking for excuses to get out of the house and explore more of Yorkshire, so we decided to take up walking.

Yes, walking.

For most, walking is just an everyday activity done to get you from one place to the next, but here, it’s a whole other story. You see in England, walking is a serious pastime, and for a few weeks this past winter we got really into it. Like, looking up different routes and frequenting walking guide websites, into it.

Yes, it’s just as nerdy as it sounds, but before you click away, let me just say that it was also really quite enjoyable.

Every week, we’d do a little bit of research and decide on our walk for that weekend: nothing too strenuous, but enough to feel like we’d gotten a workout; this is how we ended up spending a chilly, but wonderful day in Marsden.  Continue reading “A Day in Marsden”

Petite Adventures Month in Review: May 2017

For months, I looked forward to our vacation in Croatia. It would be our reward for hard work, long hours, and for surviving our first British winter. For weeks I longed for it, planned for it and dreamed about it, and now, here we are, already a week into June and almost two weeks since we returned. Can someone please tell me, where has the time gone?!

Oh well, moving on and looking back, our vacation in Croatia was in one word: AMAZING! Continue reading “Petite Adventures Month in Review: May 2017”
