Wanderlust Wednesday: Jamaica

Wanderlust Wednesday is a series where I revisit a past travel adventure and memory. This week, I’m looking back at the Irie Blue Hole in Jamaica.

Iris Blue Hole Jamaica

Jamaica wasn’t a destination that was high up on my travel bucket list, so when my best friend announced that she’d be getting married in Ocho Rios in 2013 I wasn’t sure what to expect.

We were staying at an all-inclusive so I did absolutely no research (I know, bad traveller!) I just thought it was going to be a week of bevvies and sunshine–which it was. But as usual, after four days of sitting, reading and relaxing, I was ready for an adventure. So, when the idea of an afternoon trip to the Irie Blue Hole came up I jumped on it. Again, I had no clue what to expect, I just figured it would be something cool.

And it was.

The Irie Blue Hole, located almost an hour outside of Runaway Bay (20-30 minutes from Ocho Rios) was a stunning collage of vibrant colours, smells and sounds. The Irie Blue Hole oozed paradise around every turn.

Our guided tour has us walking through rivers, jumping in fresh water lakes, diving under waterfalls and wandering through the forest. The feeling of being in the middle of nowhere surrounding by such beauty couldn’t be beat.

It was the perfect mini-vacation in the middle of my vacation.
