Summer in Madrid is nothing short of amazing. We’re only just a few days into the season, but thanks to Madrid’s stunning weather, it feels like we’ve been experiencing summer for weeks. It’s quite nice, I’m not going to lie to you.
Over the past few weeks I’ve found myself completely taken by the heat and have really gotten into the swing of the season. Here are my favourite things about summer in Madrid (so far):
Sangria, or Vino Tinto de Verano (a red wine mixed with lemon soda), is ubiquitous with summertime in Spain. And I have to say, it’s a tradition I am more than onboard with. There’s nothing quite like cooling down with a glass of sangria on a hot afternoon.
What is it about summer that makes food taste so good!? Tapas are delightful and delicious any time of the year, but enjoying tapas alongside your sangria takes it to that next level.
Summertime in Madrid just seems to bring the people out — and I’m not just talking about the influx of tourists to the capital. No matter what street you turn down, you’re bound to find a full patio or terrace.
All year long I’ve been blowm away by the sunshine and the sky in Madrid — I’ve honestly never seen a sky so blue! But, again, there’s just something about summer: the sky is bluer, the sun is brighter. It’s amazing. Ah-maz-ing!
Nothing brings out happy people more than good food, great drinks, sunshine and warm weather. Everywhere you look people are smiling, laughing, and enjoying life, like only the Spanish can.
It’s a great time to be in the capital.
